Forensic Intelligence deals with the acquisition, analysis and protection of information and evidence that is the result of a criminal act, and the identification of potential crime risks.

Within Forensic Intelligence are the functions of Counter-Terrorism, Espionage and Criminal Risk Management, which involves the acquisition and analysis of intelligence data in order to provide recommendations on reducing terrorist, espionage and criminal threat levels.

CORPORATE ESPIONAGE: Most companies do not recognize they have a corporate espionage problem until an average of 18 months after the incident. 72% of businesses that have not taken measures to manage corporate espionge risk and suffer a loss will go out of business within 2 years. CORPORATE SECURITY: Less than 5% of annual Top 1000 North American Corporate budgets will be spent on security. Despite the significance of their role in risk management, Security Guards are the lowest paid in relation to their responsibility within a corporation. PRIVACY: 68% of North American Companies secretly review employees' computer files, e-mail, voice mail and record telephone calls. Every 9 seconds in Corporate North America someone gains unauthorized access to a classified document. If you live or work in downtown Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa you will be recorded on security video an average of 18 times per day by 7 different surveillance systems. A cellular telephone can be used to track the movements of an individual within a 4 block radius. 37% of all telephone taps are conducted by law enforcement. Identity Theft is the number one technology based crime committed against individuals, credit fraud is the second. 63% of residential burglaries occur on weekdays between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. COMPUTER SECURITY: 88% of all Trojan Viruses are designed to steal financial and personal identification information from computer users. Over 8,000 computer viruses are currently active worldwide with an average of 5 new ones introduced each day. The majority of computer viruses are spread as attachments to e-mails. 36% of computer security breaches were the result of technical vulnerabilities while human vulnerabilities were attributed to the remaining 64%. For every minute of unauthorized computer access, it will take an average of 2 hours investigation time. The average computer security breach lasts 27 minutes. It costs an average of $850.00 per hour to investigate a computer security breach. There are over 9,000 recognized computer software security holes worldwide, with an average of 7 new vulnerabilities uncovered each day. Only 72% of registered software users take advantage of free patches and upgrades to correct security vulnerabilities. Computer Crackers attempt to infiltrate North American military computer systems an average of 180,000 times per year.
